‘Toast’ a drama for Harvest
Explore how often we do not appreciate all that God gives to us with 5 – 14 year olds. This drama, for two people, also touches on the theme of being willing to take risks, as well as eating a balanced and varied diet, to challenge the children!
An all-age service for Bible Sunday, 26 October
On Bible Sunday we take the opportunity to think about the place that Scripture has in our own walk with Jesus. Based on Colossians 3.12-17, this new all-age service encourages us to see that we can choose how we ‘clothe’ ourselves with characteristics, moods and qualities for our everyday lives and how our choices affect our interactions with those around us.
The service includes ways of exploring and responding to the Bible reading suitable for all ages, with prayers from the Bible Society.
Remembering war and building peace
An all-age service to commemorate the First World War
The year 2014 marks the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War and over the next five years significant events during that conflict will be commemorated. This service offers a biblical context based around the story of Joshua in which to begin our reflections on a long and epoch-making conflict.
This flexible service has been written by Ruth Pyke, the Children’s Work Adviser in the diocese of St Albans, and can be used with children and adults of all ages, in a range of different local contexts.
Helping Pray Together
Prayer is so central to our worship, but how easy do we find it to write prayers – especially for times when all ages are together?
Each week, ROOTS provides specially-written prayers for you to use or adapt as you wish. Click here to see all the prayers and prayer activities for Sunday 26 October (Bible Sunday) as an example of prayers that you can use across the whole age-range.
They’re all linked to one of the lectionary readings for that Sunday, Matthew 22. 34-46, Kingdom Questions, which explores some of the questions that Jesus was asked, and the importance of questions in our lives.
ROOTS resources are published in two magazines – Adult & All Age and Children & Young People, plus a supporting website.
