Youth Mental Health First Aid

Pete Larkum from Winchester YMCA will be offering this day of training on the 19th and 20th March at St. John’s House, Winchester, SO23 9BE

“1 in 10 young people experience emotional and mental health problems in the UK, with suicide being the second most common cause of death in those aged 15-24. YMCA Winchester wants to reduce the impact poor mental health has on young people across Hampshire. Our aim is to encourage every education provider and support agency to have at least one certified Youth Mental Health First Aider because early intervention is crucial.

You will learn to:
– Spot the early signs of a mental health problem in young people
– Feel confident helping a young person experiencing a problem
– Provide help on a “first aid” basis
– Help protect a young person who might be at risk of harm

The course is delivered by an approved, experienced YMHFA instructor. See www.mhfaengland.com for more course information.
